How can therapy help me?+
Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to understand yourself better, build coping skills, and navigate life's challenges with more confidence and resilience.
What happens at my first appointment?+
Your first session focuses on getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and discussing your goals. Together, you'll create a plan that feels right for you.
What if I'm feeling nervous about my first appointment?+
Feeling nervous is completely normal. Your first session is simply a conversation, and you'll share only what feels comfortable. We'll move at a pace that feels right for you.
How many sessions will I need?+
The number of sessions varies for each person. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others choose longer-term therapy for ongoing growth and healing.
How often will we meet?+
Most clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Your therapist will help determine a schedule that best supports your goals.
What are your fees and how do I pay?+
Fees vary by therapist and service. We accept Interac e-Transfer and major credit cards through our secure booking platform. Sliding scale options may also be available.
Will my insurance cover therapy services?+
Coverage varies by plan. We recommend checking with your employer, HR department, or insurance provider to confirm your benefits.
Can you direct bill my insurance?+
Yes. Through TELUS eClaims, we can direct bill many participating insurance providers. If direct billing is unavailable, we'll provide a receipt for reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?+
We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations and missed appointments are subject to the full session fee.
How long are appointments?+
Most individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are typically 75 minutes.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?+
Yes. Limited evening and weekend appointments may be available depending on therapist availability.
Can you provide virtual therapy anywhere in Canada?+
No. Therapists can only provide services in provinces where they are licensed to practice.
How will we meet online?+
We conduct virtual sessions through Jane, our secure telehealth platform. You'll need a private space, an internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.
Do I need a referral to access services?+
No referral is required to book an appointment. However, some insurance plans may require one for reimbursement.
Is my information kept confidential?+
Yes. All information that is shared in counselling is confidential, and no information will be released to any third party without your explicit written consent, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and/or the Health Information Act (HIA). Disclosure may still be required in situations where it is required by law or professional standards.
What if I'm not ready for therapy?+
That's okay. We offer complimentary consultations so you can ask questions and determine whether therapy feels like the right fit.
What if I need immediate help or am experiencing a mental health emergency?+
Dabyras Wellness is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911, visit your nearest emergency department, call or text 988, or contact 811.
What if I have a concern or complaint about my therapy?+
We encourage you to speak directly with your therapist first. If concerns remain unresolved, you may contact our Clinical Director or the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Do you offer free consultations?+
Yes. We offer complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultations to help you determine if we're the right fit for your needs.
How do I choose the right therapist?+
Consider your goals, concerns, therapy preferences, and which therapist you feel most comfortable connecting with.
Do you work with children or teens?+
We primarily provide therapy for adolescents (12+), adults, and seniors experiencing a wide range of emotional, mental health, and life challenges.
Do you provide documentation or reports?+
Yes. We can provide certain letters and clinical documentation when appropriate. Additional fees may apply for time spent preparing documents.
Can therapy be claimed on my taxes?+
In some cases, therapy services may qualify as an eligible medical expense. We recommend consulting the CRA or a tax professional for guidance.
How do I book my first appointment?+
You can book online through Jane, email us, or schedule a complimentary consultation to help find the right therapist.
What if I have more questions?+
We're happy to help. Contact us anytime, and we'll be glad to answer your questions.
